38 HOUR DRIVER EDUCATION COURSE (Teens ages 14.9-17 years old)

The 38 hour course is designed for individuals between 14 years and 9 months and 17 years old who desire to acquire a driver’s license. This course includes 30 hours of classroom instruction and 8 hours of behind the wheel instruction. Students must attain an 80% average on all quizzes including the final exam for the 30 hour course. Classes are offered monthly. Registration for this course may be completed online. All fees must be paid in full before instruction begins. 

Fee: $400

Fee: $500  Classroom Portion:$200     Behind the Wheel Portion: $300

The 38 hour course is for teens ages 14.9 to 17 years old and includes 30 hours of classroom instruction and 8 hours of behind the wheel driving instruction with the student as the operator of a dual-controlled motor vehicle. Students must be at least 14 years and 9 months old to begin the driver education course.  However, students cannot begin the behind-the-wheel driving portion until the age of 15. A Temporary Instruction Permit is required for this course (See FAQ's Tab)  A $100 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit secures a student's seat for this course.  The balance is to be paid in full on or before the first day of class. Upon course completion student receives a sealed envelope with credentials needed to obtain learner's permit or driver's license along with a copy of the certificate of completion.  If a student needs a replacement copy of the certificate of completion. The cost is $20. 

14 HOUR PRELICENSING COURSE

8 HOUR BEHIND THE WHEEL ONLY (Ages 15 and above)

Fee: $400

This course is offered to individuals who desire to only take the behind wheel portion of the driver education courses. This course is behind-the-wheel instruction only. An original copy of the student’s learner's permit is required. If student does not have a learner's permit, A Temporary Instruction Permit is required for this course (See Policies Tab) as well as a copy of the 30 hour or 6 hour course completion certificate before driving instruction can commence. The fee for this service is to be paid in person with cash, money order or debit/credit card at the driving academy.

ROAD SKILLS TESTING

Fee: $60 Through 12/31/25; $80 Effective 1/1/26

The Road Skills Test is the final driving assessment that is required before an applicant receives an intermediate license or full driver's license.  16 is the minimum age requirement to take this test; however, 16 year old applicants can only register for this test if they have had their learner's permit for at least 180 days. The teen or adult applicant must have successfully completed the 38hr or 14hr course to schedule for the road skills test.

Test administration-$40; Use of SDA vehicle-$40 (EFFECTIVE 1/1/26)

4 HR DEFENSIVE DRIVING

Fee: $60

The Defensive Driving Course is offered for individuals ages 17 and above who are ordered, or would like to receive defensive driving instruction. This course may be offered to organizations as well. Upon completion of the course, applicants will receive a certificate of completion from us. Submit this certificate to required parties for proof of course completion. Registration for this class may be completed by calling Star Driving Academy.

8 HOUR BEHIND THE WHEEL ONLY $275 

14 HOUR PRELICENSING COURSE (Adults ages 18 and above) 

Fee: $400   Classroom Portion: $100     Behind the Wheel Portion: $300

The 14 hour course is for adults ages 18 and above who are acquiring their driver’s license for the 1st time. This course includes 6 hours of classroom instruction and 8 hours of behind the wheel driving instruction with the student as the operator of a dual-controlled motor vehicle.  A Temporary Instruction Permit is required for this course (See FAQ's Tab) A $100 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit secures a student's seat for this course.  The balance is to be paid in full on or before the first day of class.
